Message from Senior Chair - Thursday, January 12, 2012

Dear Coaches and Team Administrators,

I would like to update everyone on the delay of Senior Championship Meet Information. When taking over as the Senior Chair there was some very key information that was left out in the format of the meet that will be held at Ohio State University on March 2nd thru 4th. Ohio State University agreed to run this meet last year if the meet was ran as timed finals on Sunday. This was in place prior to me taking over as Senior Chair. We are working on this matter and will have everything resolved with the best interest of the swimmers as our #1 priority. We plan to have an update by the end of the week.

Sorry for the delay,

Jason Roberts
Senior Chair

USA Swimming is committed to raising awareness about athlete protection and prevention of abuse in sport.  We are proud to partner with Praesidium, an industry expert in abuse prevention, to bring the swimming community customized and comprehensive training tools for coaches, and volunteers.

Our training tools will help you:
- Understand the scope and effects of abuse in sport
- Recognize the signs of grooming behavior and boundary violations
- Understand how to establish boundaries and protect against false allegations
- Know how to react and report when you suspect abuse

Existing 2011 non-athlete members are required to complete the USA Swimming athlete protection training course by December 31, 2011.   Individuals not currently registered are required to complete the course before they can become members.

Brand new members will be required to have their non-athlete application form and payment processed by their LSC registrar before they can sign in to complete the course.

The course is free of charge and should take about an hour to complete. Click the link below to take you to the USA-Swimming cover paage explaining the program and providing a link to the test:

His time of 2:05.25 in the 200 IM and 4:26.30 in the 400 IM broke the previous records of 2:05.67 (Max Williamson, CLPR, just last month) and 4:28.40 (Kevin Nead, ABLY, July 2002) respectively.
